Thank you for visiting the website of Stowe Mountain Ranch. In Vermont many of us have found the balance between being and doing, treating the earth with dignity, being in harmony with nature. The entire south side of this property is solar technology which powers and heats us and yes, I drive a Prius.
I run a conference business full time and teach part time as a University professor while recently retiring as a 25 year infantry officer in the US Army Reserve/Army National Guard. I am blessed to live life in the company of a great family of therapeutic horses, beneficial to my own bout of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and to the needs of others including Black Jack a 17 hand all black German Hanoverian who has been seen on Sundays for 12 years giving free rides at the Stowe Farmers Market, therapeutic rides at the Stowe Weekend of Hope each May and leading the Stowe July 4th parade. He was also the official riderless horse, and I his escort, for funeral ceremonies for the State of Vermont during the Iraq War at the Vermont National Cemetery. We take great pride in giving back by supporting The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, and prior to that, the Big Brother and Sister Association of Boston, who send teens here several weekends a year, at no cost. These are outward bound like weekends where I get to use my experience as a Army Officer to take them mountain climbing, to the Smugglers Notch Caves, swimming at Bingham Waterfalls and Cross Country skiing. We also donate a weekend most years to a group of leading fundraisers for Children’s Hospital of Boston, a hospital who saved my nieces life when she was young. Thank you, Gerry
